Employer-Local 103 Agreements

On July 22nd, an agreement was entered into by the Electrical Contractors Association and Local 103, IBEW Features of this first agreement without the Employers Building Trades Association were:

Closed shop language, $1.00 per hour for Journeymen; 62.5 cents per hour for helpers; 8 hour workday; 44 hours per week; one helper to two journeymen ratio; double time overtime.

In January 1922, the Electrical Workers Benefit Association went into effect. Since 1894, the IBEW had been bound by the principle that benefits and Brotherhood were inseperately bound. Even when the organization was nearly bankrupt, they always fulfilled this commitment. These benefits were extremely important in that the work was so dangerous that no insurance company would insure our members at any premium. Therefore, we had to attend to this necessary matter ourselves.
