IBEW Golden Jubilee

1941 marked the Golden Jubilee of the IBEW and the convention was held in St. Louis, Missouri. It was the first convention held in twelve years due to the Great Depression and the General Secretary, G.M. Bugniazet, reported increases since the 1929 convention.

In 1929, only 30,000 members were working a five day work week. In 1941, virtually all 200,000 IBEW members were enjoying the reduced work week.

In 1929, the average wage for inside wireman was $1.15 per hour. In 1941, a new high of $2.20 had been reached in some areas.

The convention also endorsed the National Apprenticeship standards for the electrical industry.
