Local 103 Members Go To War

Jim Keough decides to follow in his father and grandfather’s trade and signs an indentureship into the apprenticeship. His grandfather is Fred Keough Electric, and his father is known in Local 103 as "tar paper hat" Keough. He wears a derby hat filled with newspaper to protect his head from falling objects on and off construction jobs. He and two other members got a plank and stole the piano out of the Union Hall during the Depression to hawk it in a pawn shop. A third generation member of Local 103, Jimmy’s apprenticeship will have to wait until after the war. After December 7, 1941, Jimmy is in the Marines until 1945.
