CONSOLIDATED ELECTRIC SERVICES

Also Known As Constar International, Inc.

      86 Morse Street
      Norwood, MA 02062

Consolidated Electric has been cheating its employees of community standard wages and benefits since the founding of the company more than 20 years ago. The founder and former owner of the company, Stephen Bisson, was a former member of Local 103, I.B.E.W. In fact, Bisson's father collects a pension from Local 103. Steve Bisson knows the benefits of belonging to the union; but as one of the driving forces behind Consolidated, he spent over 20 years fighting union organizing drives at his company.

Mr. Bisson has lived the good life. He owned a home in Dover, Massachusetts, one of the richest communities in the state. Unfortunately for Steve, his first marriage ended in divorce. We are told it was a bitter one, and the two cannot stand the sight of one another. While the divorce was going on, it became apparent that it would cost Steve some big bucks. So what did Steve do? He had his employees pay for the settlement! That's right! In order to pay the settlement costs, we are told that Steve took 5% in wages from each employee. How's that for a caring boss? While he was sucking money out of his employees pockets (to pay for his divorce settlement), we are told that Steve was driving around in an expensive sports car.

Well, I guess the divorce was taking its toll on poor Steve. On June 11, 1996, the Dover Police were called to the home of Bisson's ex-wife. According to the criminal complaint, Steve Bisson was arrested for assault and battery. The story goes that Steve was having an argument with his daughter and allegedly assaulted her. What would possess a man to commit harm on a little girl? Well, it doesn't surprise me that someone who has no respect for their workers will have any respect for their kids either.

On several occasions, while Bisson was in charge, the employees at Consolidated Electric expressed an interest in joining the union. In order to have a successful campaign, it is necessary to line up fellow employees to support the organizing effort. When those workers identify themselves as pro-union and make attempts to get other employees interested in joining the union, the expected happens. Steve Bisson was no different than the other modern day robber barons. He fires the union supporters just like the others do. Once the supporters are fired, that usually is enough to scare the other employees from attempting to organize a union in their workplace.

Steve Bisson fooled his employees with his web of deceit. He has used misguided representations that becoming a union member would somehow not be in their best interests. He fired employees who only wish to improve their living standards by trying to organize a union. Steve Bisson's actions were not only morally corrupt to his workers and his family, but socially irresponsible!
